Finished project: Crocheted Hat and Scarf

Image
Hey Guys! When the "BER" months are here, it means chilly days are here too. And this inspires me to make something that I can wear and will keep me warm. I consider myself a beginner in the crochet world. I have to thank the Youtubers for their instruction videos and bloggers for their written instruction on how to crochet stuff. Thanks for sharing your designs.  Last Sunday, I have completed a scarf. I've completed the hat a few days prior.  The hat design is from a book - Cool Crochet Hats by Linda Kopp. The design is called Divine Simplicity and the designer is Dot Matthews. I thought I followed the instruction well, but it was too short for my head. I did not use the recommended yarn and hook so, it was too short for me. I added a couple of rounds to it to fix the issue. The scarf design is a free design from The Spruce Crafts by Amy Solovay. You can find it here . Thanks, Amy for sharing this design. It is really for a beginner and your instruc...

A new start for October - SodaStitch

Image
Happy Wednesday, everyone! Fall is my favorite season because of the cooler weather and of course, the beautiful autumn colors around me. I live in West Virginia, and it is so pretty here when it is fall. My favorite activity during the fall season is to walk along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal in Williamsport, MD and enjoy the trees and their autumn leaves. I thought I wanted to stitch something with autumn and Halloween themed design but I don't want to go through my collection of books and magazines to look for one. I went browsing on Etsy instead and particularly looked at designs from SodaStitch because I wanted a cutesy pattern and I wanted to instant download the pattern so I can start it right away. Last weekend, I started Soda Stitch's Cat's Autumn . I am just too excited to start these cute cats. So below is my progress so far. This is stitched on a 14-count Aida, a precut Aida cloth for napkins and they are so soft. I love working on this soft Aida. It ...

October Cross Stitch Work-in-Progress

Image
The trend in cross stitching world right now is to work on a project that is picked by the decision wheel or roulette. I like the idea so I downloaded the app on my phone. I like the idea of not wasting my energy deciding which one to stitch for the day. Most of the time, it is a difficult process for me since I have about 150 plus of projects wanting my attention. So, I decided to have the first set of 11 projects. They are based on the following categories. One big full coverage project - my plan is to stitch 100-200 stitches a day on this project One Mirabilia design  One Lavender and Lace design One Joan Elliot design  One Dimension kit One Christmas stocking Five various designs from different designers I have chosen the projects for this endeavor. My plan is to work on these projects until they are finished. For instance, when a Mirabilia project is finished, I will pick another Mirabilia project that I have already started to add to the wheel. I wan...

My First Long Dog Sampler

Image
Yesterday, I saw a finished piece of this design while watching FlossTube. It was so pretty that I really want to have it. I have already mentioned that I am not really a sampler stitcher even though I stitched a few of them. But, if it is a colorful one, I am willing to change my mind anytime.  So, I ordered the pattern from Long Dog Sampler website and received the PDF pattern a few hours later through my email. I was so excited that I plan to put my first few stitches last night. I don't want to dig my stash to look for a fabric because it is going to be a lot of work for me moving around stuff, so I went to Hobby Lobby to get my fabric. I chose the 28 count white evenweave. I want the 36 count but all they have with that stitch count is Linen. I don't enjoy stitching on Linen so the 28-ct evenweave will do. I am just happy to see that it is designed with DMC floss. Here's the design. It is now one of my work in progress projects and I will try to stitch a few X...

Diamond Painting - Finished and Framed and new project Unboxing

Image
I was so excited I finished another diamond painting project. This is my second diamond painting. It was such fun to do and so addicting. When I was looking for another kit to purchase, I had this abstract art in mind. I thought that abstract arts work well with DP. When I saw this kit, I bought it right away. It describes me. I love the colorful stuff and I play guitar. It took me a while to finish this small project but it was worth the wait. I framed this piece myself. I went to Hobby Lobby to look for a frame that will fit the dimension of the design. The design is about 11.5 x 15.5. I end up buying the12x16 metal frame. I used a black masking tape to tape the edges around the design. This is to cover the sticky part and also to match the extra 0.50 on both sides with the frame color for a neat finish. I then cut the canvas to 12 x 16 inches, with an extra 0.25 inches on all four sides, making sure that the design is centered. It looks really great and the black frame just comple...
