October Cross Stitch Work-in-Progress

The trend in cross stitching world right now is to work on a project that is picked by the decision wheel or roulette. I like the idea so I downloaded the app on my phone. I like the idea of not wasting my energy deciding which one to stitch for the day. Most of the time, it is a difficult process for me since I have about 150 plus of projects wanting my attention.

So, I decided to have the first set of 11 projects. They are based on the following categories.
  • One big full coverage project - my plan is to stitch 100-200 stitches a day on this project
  • One Mirabilia design
  • One Lavender and Lace design
  • One Joan Elliot design
  • One Dimension kit
  • One Christmas stocking
  • Five various designs from different designers
I have chosen the projects for this endeavor. My plan is to work on these projects until they are finished. For instance, when a Mirabilia project is finished, I will pick another Mirabilia project that I have already started to add to the wheel. I want to stitch on the full coverage project first (minimum of 100 stitches, maximum of 200 stitches a day), then spin the wheel to decide the second project I will work on that day. I have to work on the full coverage project every day because as we all know, they take a long time to finish.

So here are the projects that make the first batch. These photos will also be my reference for the end of the month update to see my progress. I have tried the decision roulette app for two weeks and I have noticed that sometimes, it picked a project twice or thrice in a week. It would be interesting to see what project I work on the most based on the progress photo.

BIG FULL COVERAGE  - The Last Supper by Mystic Stitch
This is a special request from my mother. She wanted a Last Supper picture to display in our dining room in the Philippines. I insisted on having a stitched Last Supper instead of the printed one or something cheap looking art from a store. She has been asking me about this project, that is why I wanted to work on this every day. I have 15 pages more to go including the one I am working on now.  This is stitched on 18 count Aida, two strands of floss.

MIRABILIA design - Royal Holiday Queen
I picked this one because this is the oldest project among the Mira projects I have started. It is so huge that I got tired stitching her dress. It looks like the fabric is too small for this design but it can be fixed though.

LAVENDER AND LACE design - The Fairy Dreams
I picked this project because same as the Royal Holiday, this is one of the oldest projects I have. I got so tired of the big dress and the bead stitching is tedious. But then, it is such a waste if I ignore this beauty all the time. She needs to be framed one of these days.

JOAN ELLIOT  design - Ladybird Fairy
I love the colors of this design.

DIMENSION kit - Cozy Cove, designed by Charles Wysocki, Dimensions The Gold Collection.
I want to see this framed that is why I chose this project. It is just a beautiful scenery.

CHRISTMAS STOCKING - Cozy Christmas designed by Sandy Orton from Donna Kooler's Second Edition Stocking Collection Book. I have completed my husband's stocking. This one is for me. My plan is to stitch one for each member of my family - my parents, siblings, and their kids. I want to display them on the staircase in my house in the Philippines.

FIVE DIFFERENT DESIGNS - the 4 projects are picked through the random number generator. I am not yet done with my inventory but I have recorded about 155 projects and so, I used 1-155 number to help me pick these projects. The Virtue project is a September start.
  • Williamsburg 1776 - designed by Ronnie Rowe Designs. I purchased this pattern from a cross stitch store in Williamsburg, VA. I have seen this house in person too.
  • Jingle Bells -  designed by Durene Jones, started on 1/12/17, CrossStitcher December 2016 issue - I have always wanted to stitch a bicycle. This one is perfect because it is a Christmas themed one. I think I wanted to stitch more bicycle designs. I will start collecting them now.
  • The Lord's Prayer - designed by Cross 'N Patch. This was started by my husband's first wife (deceased). It looks like she miscalculated the fabric size and ditched the project or maybe she started to get so sick and not being able to finish this. It is a shame to throw this away. I decided to just make it work, maybe stitch AMEN in the smaller font size and then put fabric around the Aida for easy framing.
  • Virtue - designed by Long Dog Samplers, started on 9/10/18. I love the colors on this design. The fabric I chose makes this project a huge one though, but it is okay.
  • Snow White and the seven dwarfs - designed by Gloria & Pat, Walt Disney Characters in Counted Cross Stitch book 5070. One of my favorite Disney movies growing up.

I am so excited about this plan. I have been thinking hard on how to organize my cross stitching hobby and I am just so happy that I have come up with this setup. It was hard work and many late nights gathering, listing and taking photos of the projects I have but it was all worth it (I am not done yet though). I now have the list and pictures to look at if I want to be reminded of the designs I have already started but not yet finished. I will soon post albums of my unfinished projects here. Watch out for it! :)

I also stitch Christmas ornaments from the current Just Cross Stitch Christmas ornaments magazine just to have small finishes every now and then. That's it folks. Hope this will inspire you to keep on stitching.
