October Cross Stitch Work-in-Progress

Image
The trend in cross stitching world right now is to work on a project that is picked by the decision wheel or roulette. I like the idea so I downloaded the app on my phone. I like the idea of not wasting my energy deciding which one to stitch for the day. Most of the time, it is a difficult process for me since I have about 150 plus of projects wanting my attention. So, I decided to have the first set of 11 projects. They are based on the following categories. One big full coverage project - my plan is to stitch 100-200 stitches a day on this project One Mirabilia design  One Lavender and Lace design One Joan Elliot design  One Dimension kit One Christmas stocking Five various designs from different designers I have chosen the projects for this endeavor. My plan is to work on these projects until they are finished. For instance, when a Mirabilia project is finished, I will pick another Mirabilia project that I have already started to add to the wheel. I wan...

My First Long Dog Sampler

Image
Yesterday, I saw a finished piece of this design while watching FlossTube. It was so pretty that I really want to have it. I have already mentioned that I am not really a sampler stitcher even though I stitched a few of them. But, if it is a colorful one, I am willing to change my mind anytime.  So, I ordered the pattern from Long Dog Sampler website and received the PDF pattern a few hours later through my email. I was so excited that I plan to put my first few stitches last night. I don't want to dig my stash to look for a fabric because it is going to be a lot of work for me moving around stuff, so I went to Hobby Lobby to get my fabric. I chose the 28 count white evenweave. I want the 36 count but all they have with that stitch count is Linen. I don't enjoy stitching on Linen so the 28-ct evenweave will do. I am just happy to see that it is designed with DMC floss. Here's the design. It is now one of my work in progress projects and I will try to stitch a few X...

Diamond Painting - Finished and Framed and new project Unboxing

Image
I was so excited I finished another diamond painting project. This is my second diamond painting. It was such fun to do and so addicting. When I was looking for another kit to purchase, I had this abstract art in mind. I thought that abstract arts work well with DP. When I saw this kit, I bought it right away. It describes me. I love the colorful stuff and I play guitar. It took me a while to finish this small project but it was worth the wait. I framed this piece myself. I went to Hobby Lobby to look for a frame that will fit the dimension of the design. The design is about 11.5 x 15.5. I end up buying the12x16 metal frame. I used a black masking tape to tape the edges around the design. This is to cover the sticky part and also to match the extra 0.50 on both sides with the frame color for a neat finish. I then cut the canvas to 12 x 16 inches, with an extra 0.25 inches on all four sides, making sure that the design is centered. It looks really great and the black frame just comple...

Youth and Age - my second finished project

Image
Another finished project for me for this month. I have been wanting to finish this one because I thought that it is just so quick and easy. But, it was put aside many times. When I was organizing bins the other night, I found this project. So last night, I stitched on this while watching the Harry Potter movie marathon on SyFy. And this morning, I stitched the last X, placed my initials and date and call this a finish. YAY! 😍 This is an old design from an old cross stitching magazine, Cross Quick Magazine . There is no information as to who designed this piece though. There are 10 DMC colors on this design and I have it stitched on a piece of 14-count white Aida. I like designs with quotes and sayings. It is nice to have them around the house. I remember when I was a kid, I would stop whenever I see a display in any house that has sayings or words on it and read the words out loud. I thought it was fun. 😊 I will be framing this project. Just a regular photo frame with a back...

A Finish. Strawberry Patch Band Sampler

Image
Yes, I have a finish. This is my first finished cross stitch project in 2018. This sampler is designed by Betsy Stinner. There are a variety of specialty stitches on this design. I admit this is my first time to do other stitches and I had fun. There are only 5 DMC colors for this design. The stitches are cross stitch, back stitch, rice stitch, algerian eyelet, satin stitch and queen stitch. The project is stitched on a 28 count evenweave although the pattern suggested a 32-count cream Belfast linen. The design is from the Cross Stitch & Needlework Magazine, issue April 1997. If you want to stitch this just let me know. I have removed the pattern from the magazine and the pages have creases and folds but unmarked and the pattern is still readable. I will gladly pass the pattern to anyone interested. I am so happy to have a finish and I hope I will have another one soon. And I've placed my initials and date. Although band sampler is not my thin...

Diamond Painting Unboxing

Image
On August 28th, I received the largest diamond painting kit I have purchased so far. I ordered it from AliExpress vendor. It was on sale, I think but I bought it for $16 free shipping. Here is what it looked like when I received the goods. The supplies were not in a box like the ones I saw on YouTube and Facebook. They were wrapped in a bubble wrap. I figured maybe because it was a bit cheaper. These are the contents. I have all the diamonds that are required for this project. I am not sure what are that blue and black plastic thingy though. I am not sure what it is for. Can you please tell me? They called this a Dream Home - Cabin Scenery. And I think it is a 90x40 cm picture size. This is a round drill kit. I thought I ordered a square drill kit but I wasn't really paying attention to the diamond shape when I ordered. the canvas This will be my third DP project. The first DP project I did was the kitten. I ordered the kit from Amazon. I wo...
