DIY Christmas ornaments tree and wreath

Image
I have been watching YouTube videos lately about DIY Christmas decorations. There are tons of videos crafters out there who shared their ideas about Christmas crafts. I love the tree and wreath ideas made of ornaments purchased from the Dollar Tree store. It is a wonderful idea to do crafting that don't cost me much.        My first project was the ornament wreath. I thought the red, green, gold and silver combination is so festive. I bought seven tubes of different sizes and assorted colors, grabbed one of the wire hangers in our closet and the wired-ribbon I have on stash. It just took me around 30 minutes to finish the job. I don't want to go through the procedure on how I made it because there are tons of videos available on YouTube, but here are the pictures.    Another wonderful idea is the ornament tree. Other people use a styrofoam for this. I used a cardboard from the Dollar Tree Store, formed it into a co...

Finished! Give Thanks Pumpkin!

Image
I was determined to finish this project last night. So, I was up until past midnight, listening to audiobook while stitching the last part of this design. So happy that I finished it. Give thanks pumpkin from Cross Country Magazine, October 2012 issue. I've made a lot of mistakes, but since this project is just for me, I don't care :). My stitching buddy Charlie says "hi" to you all. I already have a frame for this project. I will post photos when it is finally framed. So excited! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Labor Day stitching and crafting

Image
9/1/14 It has been quite a while. I was so busy with keeping up all the household chores, organizing my things and moving stuff from one room to another. I am on the process of re-purposing our living room into a craft/office room. For about 4 years, our living room was just a sitting area with a few of our knick-knacks collecting dust. We rarely used it. When I started going to the community college, I was using our dining table as my office/study room because I needed a huge table for two monitors and ample space to spread my school stuff. I wanted to stay away from the dining area as much as possible so I decided to convert the neglected space in our small abode. I will post some pictures later to show my craft room when I am finished. Right now, I still have a lot of sorting to do. I have sorted my cross stitch stuff already. I am going to tackle my scrapbooking stuff next. I have been cross stitching like crazy last night and today. My goal was to finish stitching the s...

Poppy Fairy and Honesty verse finishes

Image
Hello there.  First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by to read my blog entries. I am fairly new to blogging but I have been reading blogs since 2009. I was already cross stitching at that time just to have something to do. I  didn't  know that there’s a lot of information, freebies and blogs about cross stitch online until I happened to type and search “cross stitch” on Google. Since then, I was hooked. I love reading every cross stitch blog I could find. I love all the information you have provided about the craft. Also, I have been watching videos about cross stitch on YouTube. I love watching fellow cross-stitchers talking about their projects, WIPS , finishes and video tags while I am stitching. Last month, I thought I would give blogging a go. Just like many of us, we want to share our passion for cross stitching. And, I am just as happy to know that I have views on my blog. So, thank you for that. Today, I would like to share with yo...

Framed Mirabilia project

Image
I finally got the time and energy to frame “Lilac”, one of Mirabilia’s Pixie Couture Collection. I love the result. I think she is really beautiful. I purchased the frame from Hobby Lobby, and this is the same frame I used for “Holly”. Lilac was a quick stitch. It just took me about two months. Sometimes, I stitch other projects in between and got busy with school work, but she was my main focus. I finished her last May of 2014 and waited until last night to get her framed. I enjoyed stitching her with all those pretty beads and the colorful threads. I used antique white evenweave fabric for her and Holly. And, I will use the same fabric and frame for the rest of the Pixie Couture that I have in my stash. The next pixie has been kitted for another start. Here’s a picture of both Holly and Lilac. I don’t know yet where I will put them in my house but I will definitely move other framed finishes to showcase them. DIY framing really saves me $100 or more. I did the la...

Facebook purchases and a WIP

Image
Happy Mail I belong to a few of the cross-stitch group on Facebook, and one of it is "Stash Unload". I bought a lot of chart from there. There was once a seller who announced to everybody that she will be posting her stash on a certain date and time, and I was one of the anxious members waiting and hoping to be the first one to bid on the charts that I like. It was like a matter of how fast your internet is and how fast you can type your "me, please". I decided to mellow down on purchasing stash months ago until just recently. These items were for sale, no bidders yet so I grabbed it. Last week, I was a happy bee again when I received these items from the mail. My second Work-in-Progress project  Here's another WIP I am going to show to you. This is actually my first time to stitch a design from the Cross Country Cross Stitch Magazine. The colors are so vibrant. The design is obviously seasonal but I do think that apart from the vibrant colors, I love the...

Happy Mail, WIP and finished project

Image
Finally, I received the package I expected to get from Moore Stitches http://www.moorestitchespa.com/ , a local needlework store in Altoona, PA. I bought several Mirabilia patterns and other charts, beads and specialty threads when I was there.  I was looking for the “Home of the Needleworker” chart but they don’t have it that time. Doris, the owner of the shop said she’ll order one for me and send it by mail. I totally forgot about it when I got back home. After e-mail exchanges with her, she sent me the chart with the fabric. I am a happy bee.    I have lots of WIPs (work-in-progress) going on. Here is one of them. It is called Cozy Cove from the Dimensions Gold Collection. I am working on the the bottom right side of the design, as shown here; I like doing the back-stitches as I go. It gives me the feeling that I have accomplished something. I purchased this kit last Spring at the Salty Yarn in Ocean City. Country scene designs like this one...
