Labor Day stitching and crafting

9/1/14

It has been quite a while. I was so busy with keeping up all the household chores, organizing my things and moving stuff from one room to another. I am on the process of re-purposing our living room into a craft/office room. For about 4 years, our living room was just a sitting area with a few of our knick-knacks collecting dust. We rarely used it. When I started going to the community college, I was using our dining table as my office/study room because I needed a huge table for two monitors and ample space to spread my school stuff. I wanted to stay away from the dining area as much as possible so I decided to convert the neglected space in our small abode. I will post some pictures later to show my craft room when I am finished. Right now, I still have a lot of sorting to do. I have sorted my cross stitch stuff already. I am going to tackle my scrapbooking stuff next.

I have been cross stitching like crazy last night and today. My goal was to finish stitching the stocking I made for my husband. I made it happen. Here is the picture.

It is not yet washed and ironed. I don’t know yet how to finish it. I still have to look for that box of Christmas fabrics. I want to put a piping around it and a lining for a really nice finish. All I know is that I am glad I finally have the stitching done. I started this project last year hoping to give it to my husband for Christmas. It just did not happen.

Now, I started another stocking design from the same book Donna Kooler's Ultimate Stocking Collection, and this one is for my stitching buddy Charlie the cat. The theme is just for him.

As I was going through my crafts stuff tonight, I found duct tapes with beautiful patterns. I felt creative at that time and so I made this wallet out of that duct tapes. I am thinking of giving this to one of my nieces in the Philippines.

I plan on putting a Velcro on this wallet to keep it closed. I probably have to watch YouTube videos again on how to do it perfectly. I like how it turned out though and I enjoyed doing this duct tape project. Not bad for the first try. I might do more next time.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Labor Day to you all.
